Personal Goals Review 2025 #2
Here we go again. As has become my pattern at year end, I set out some personal goals for 2025 and did a review in Q1. It’s now time to review progress at Q2.
TL;DR: Nailing the cycling. Need to get back on the books and get the research complete.
>> Read 50 books. Will miss target on current trajectory. 18 books read so far. Progress on the sub-targets:
- Read two Victorian classics. Two read so far, both by Jane Austen — Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.
- Read three books to educate myself more about race. One read so far — Pathfinders by Jim Al-Khalili.
>> Summarise 100% of non-fiction books read. On target. Read and summarised 3 so far.
>> Cycle 4500 miles. Exceeding trajectory. 2,975 miles cycled so far. Training for the big 600km ride in June helped to focus the mind and get a lot of longer rides in April/May.
>> Cycle a Gran Fondo each month. Over. I’ve done 14 rides of 100k or more so far this year. Missed doing one in Jan.
>> Cycle to Work 3 times a month. Done 16 times this quarter, which is nearly bang on the target. We’ve had such a mild April-June that its been lovely to get some mid-week rides in this way.
>> Get 1,000 Bluesky Followers. 538 so far. Not exactly viral, with only increasing by 31 since Q1.
>> Get to my target weight. Achieved for the first time ever whilst I’ve been tracking, but has been helped by reducing the target by 1.3Kg at the start of the year..
>> Write two “Thought” Pieces. None so far.
>> Do Some Substantial Research. Not completed yet, but now have all the FOIs back, and have persuaded #1 son to do the data cleansing and analysis.
