Personal Goals Review 2025 #1
Here we go again. As has become my pattern at year end, I set out some personal goals for 2025. It’s now time to review progress at Q1.
TL;DR: A pretty good start to the year, with most things heading in the right direction.
>> Read 50 books. On track, 12 books read so far. Progress on the sub-targets:
- Read two Victorian classics. One read so far — Persuasion by Jane Austen.
- Read three books to educate myself more about race. One read so far — Pathfinders by Jim Al-Khalili.
>> Summarise 100% of non-fiction books read. On target. Read and summarised 3 so far.
>> Cycle 4500 miles. On target. 1,136 miles cycled so far. Training for two big rides in early summer is getting me out and about.
>> Cycle a Gran Fondo each month. Over. Although I didn’t do one in January, I’ve made up for it and done 6 in total this quarter.
>> Cycle to Work 3 times a month. Done 6 times this quarter, so a long way away from 3 a month, but I’m ok with this as I’m trying to work within logistics of where I am each week and juggling other stuff.
>> Get 1,000 Bluesky Followers. 507 so far.
>> Get to my target weight. Broadly on track, but it is such a cyclical thing that I know that maintaining this trajectory for the whole year is a challenge.
>> Write two “Thought” Pieces. None so far.
>> Do Some Substantial Research. Not completed yet, but now have all the FOIs back, and have persuaded #1 son to do the data cleansing and analysis.
