Here we go again. As has become my pattern at year end, I set out some personal goals for 2023. I checked in at Q1, and it is now time to review progress at Q2.

TL;DR: Most things under trajectory — been a hard year so far!

>> Read 50 books. Under target, 19 books read so far, 11 in this quarter. Progress on the sub-targets:

  • Read two Victorian classics. On track — one (Middlemarch) read so far.
  • Read three books to educate myself more about race. Under target — none read so far.
  • Finish the long-neglected Biography of Ceasar — no progress.

>> Summarise 100% of non-fiction books read. On target. Read and summarised 4 so far.

>> Cycle 4000 miles. A little under target. 1777 miles cycled so far (compared to 2,120 this time last year). Weekends have been really busy, so the riding to work has helped keep my legs spinning.

>> Cycle a Gran Fondo each month. Just below target. 5 so far this year, but was helped by doing 3 in 3 days in Mallorca in May.

>> Cycle to Work 3 times a month. Kind of on target. 14 times so far. Where I’ve been able to logistically, I’ve cycled each week, and slowing getting faster and working out some slight route tweaks.

>> Write 10 Blog Articles. 3 done so far.

>> Get 3,000 Twitter Followers. 2,580 currently.

>> Get to my target weight. Some small progress.

>> Write weeknotes. No target (intentionally).

>> Write two “Thought” Pieces. No progress.

>> Do Some Substantial Research. Prepared the FOI last quarter but still not sent it out.

Next update — Oct 2023…
