Personal Goals Review 2022 #3
I’ve done this for a few years now. At the end of 2021, I set out some personal goals for 2022. It’s now time to review progress at Q3.
TL;DR: Smashing the cycling. Completed Gran Fondos. Need to catch up on reading.
>> Read 50 books. Slightly under target, 36 books read so far. This year I also added some sub-targets:
- Read three Victorian classics. Under target — no classics read so far.
- Read three books to educate myself more about race. 1read so far — Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire by Akala, but nearly finished Belonging by Sue Unerman, Kathryn Jacob and Mark Edwards.
- Finish the long-neglected Biography of Ceasar — no progress. I might have to ditch this target in 2023.
>> Summarise 100% of non-fiction books read. On target. Read and summarised 13 so far.
>> Cycle 4000 miles. Still on target. 3,646 miles cycled so far. I did a big event in September, which is claimed to be THE HILLIEST LONG DISTANCE CYCLING EVENT IN THE UK, so kept the training up as that date approached. Dropped off a bit since then, but still turning a pedal.
What I’m pleased about is that I got back and exceeded the level of fitness I had before breaking my collar bone and having a long long 6 months off the bike. That’s dropped off a little, but still feeling good.
>> Cycle a Gran Fondo each month. Achiived! 14 done so far. .
>> Write 10 Blog Articles. No progress since Q1. 3 done so far. A few in draft and a few ideas, but nothing published.
>> Get 2,500 Twitter Followers. 2078 currently. But still lagging well behind my colleagues Debbie and Simon.
>> Get to my target weight. Some progress towards target weight, quite a bit under trajectory, but actually feeling quite fit, so not going to agonise about the weight too much.
>> Write weeknotes. No target (intentionally).
>> Write two “Thought” Pieces. No progress.
>> Write some software. Nothing further than what I did in Q2 and not sure when I’ll fit in time to do any more.
